1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to improve performance, and to provide information to site owners. Similar technologies (e.g., local storage, pixels, SDKs) are treated as cookies in this policy.

2. How we use cookies

We use cookies to:

  • operate core site functions and keep the site secure;
  • remember your preferences (e.g., cookie choices, accessibility settings);
  • measure site performance and usage to improve content and navigation;
  • (where you consent) enable embedded content and analytics.

We do not use cookies to directly identify you, and we don’t sell personal data.

3. Your choices (consent & control)

  • On your first visit we present a granular consent banner (Accept all / Reject non-essential / Manage settings).
  • You can change or withdraw consent at any time via Cookie Settings (link in the footer) or your browser controls.
  • Essential cookies are always on as they are strictly necessary to provide the site.

If you disable or reject some cookies, parts of the site may not function correctly.

4. Lawful bases

  • Essential cookies: necessary for our legitimate interests in delivering a secure, functional site (Art. 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) and for PECR regulation 6(4) exemptions.
  • Non-essential cookies (e.g., analytics, embedded media tracking): used only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) UK GDPR).

5. Third-party recipients & transfers

Where third-party cookies are set (e.g., Google, Vimeo, YouTube, Cloudflare), those providers act as independent controllers of cookie data. Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where applicable, we rely on adequacy decisions or appropriate safeguards (e.g., IDTAs/SCCs). See each provider’s privacy policy for details.

6. Managing cookies in your browser

You can block or delete cookies via your browser settings. Useful links:

  • Chrome: chrome://settings/cookies
  • Edge: edge://settings/content/cookies
  • Firefox: about:preferences#privacy
  • Safari (iOS/macOS): Preferences/Settings → Privacy

Blocking essential cookies may degrade site functionality.

7. Google Analytics (if enabled)

If you consent to analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation and data-retention limits. You can withdraw consent via Cookie Settings at any time. You may also use Google’s opt-out tools: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

8. Accessibility & preference storage

To support accessibility (e.g., contrast, font sizing), we may store a preference cookie or local storage flag so your settings persist. This is optional and non-essential unless required for a specific accessibility function you request.

9. Do Not Track

Many browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no industry standard for DNT; we honour your explicit Cookie Settings choices as the controlling signal for consent.

10. Retention

Cookie lifespans are shown above. Analytics data (if enabled) is retained in aggregate for 14–26 months unless you withdraw consent earlier. Consent logs are retained for audit for up to 6 years (legal/accountability).

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services or the law. The “Last updated” date will change accordingly. Material changes may be highlighted on the site.
